Unlike the educational reforms that come and go, the
Montessori Method of science education has met the
needs of children around the world for almost a
century. It provides a curriculum that permits
children to progress at their own pace. It is a
demanding program for their teachers, because
teachers work with students as individuals, not as a
class. Each student's progress is monitored
individually and lessons are offered to students
when they are developmentally ready, not on a fixed
timetable. The Montessori Method of education
provides the child with warm, sensitive guidance in
an aesthetically pleasing, stimulating environment
responsive to each student’s developmental needs.
According to the North American Montessori Teachers’
Association (NAMTA) publication "What Is Montessori
Elementary?" Montessori graduates are usually known
to be very focused and good problem solvers. Unlike
traditional students, they do not study just to get
good grades: they study because they love to
learn. Because Montessori educates the whole child,
its graduates often end up being well-rounded young
adults.
