This book is about the lighyә caste system in Kamwә land of Adamawa State. The lighyә are the blacksmiths among the Kamwe people of Adamawa State. The lighyә caste in Kamwә land are discriminated against and are regarded as second class citizens mostly because of their occupation and the kind of food they eat. The book further examined the origin, development and the impact of the lighyә caste system in Kamwә land. It also made a comparative analysis of the lighyә caste system and the caste system in some parts of the Mandara Region and Igboland. It revealed that the lighyә are the economic back-bone of the Kamwә society, but yet they are discriminated against in social, political and judicial matters. For example they are not allowed to hold political offices or marry non-lighyә in Kamwә land. This has led to a lot of lighyә young men and women leaving Kamwә land for other parts of Nigeria and beyond.
