Blurb/Shorttext:
The emergence of success in the adoption of
innovation is closely linked to market profits. In
the Information Age, Information Systems and
Technology are intertwined with people in specific
ways in order to provide added value for the
customer. With an ever changing landscape and a fast
growing IS/IT offer, the decision do adopt or not a
particular innovation is one of strategic importance
for the survivability of the firm. In this book two
main groups are stylised as having the power to
formulate those decisions: the knowledge workers,
IS/IT connoisseurs within the enterprise and the
decision makers, symbol of the top management. Then,
an abstract Agent Based Model is used to study
Information Systems and Information Technology
innovation on an organizational realm, using a socio-
cognitive approach. Conclusion is drawn that the
power of the knowledge workers in the decision to
adopt an IS/IT innovation within an organization
varies with the matching level of ideas between them
and the top management, while being dependant of the
transactions’ depreciation rate, leading to a strong
fluctuation of power when the environment is
unstable.
