Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Otterford is a village and civil parish in Somerset, England. It is situated on the Blackdown Hills, 7 miles (11.3 km) south of Taunton in the Taunton Deane district. The village has a population of 384. The River Otter rises close to Otterford. The village was named Oteriford in a Taunton charter of 854 by King Æthelwulf of Wessex. The parish council has responsibility for local issues, including setting an annual precept (local rate) to cover the council’s operating costs and producing annual accounts for public scrutiny. The parish council evaluates local planning applications and works with the local police, district council officers, and neighbourhood watch groups on matters of crime, security, and traffic.
