This book explores how two cultures (American and
Turkish) process new and difficult information
looking for similarities and differences between
these groups. The purpose of this study is to
investigate the relationship between science major
students’ learning styles and their culture. Dunn
and Dunn Learning Style Model which is based on
cognitive-style and brain-lateralization theories
has been utilized in this research study. Building
Excellence and a subscale of self consciousness
surveys are used as instruments to answer questions
like, -What are the differences in learning styles
between Turkish and American undergraduate and
graduate students?- What is the relationship between
social anxiety and learning style preferences of
students? The findings have both theoretical and
practical implications for effective teaching in
multicultural classrooms and in order to provide
equal opportunities to all students.
This book will be useful for faculty members,
teaching assistants, and teacher educators to
increase the success of the students in classrooms.
