Blurb/Shorttext:
Ethical issues are strongly influenced by moral values held by members of a particular profession and is shaped by a number of factors including the environmental influences, work-place cultures and individual behavioral characteristics among various other components. Media regulators continue to face tough challenges regulating the media because of ethical and professional challenges. Some of the challenges are because of inherent behavioral tendencies portrayed by journalist. The decision as to right and wrong depends on individual assessment and judgments. Some of these decisions as laced with patterns of idealism and relativism which are not openly apparent. This study therefore looks at the effects of idealism and relativism on decision making in Kenyan newsrooms. It takes an ethical and professional perspective of the practice of journalism.
