Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Ancona railway station, sometimes named Ancona Centrale, is the main railway station of the Italian city of Ancona, in the Marche. It is the most important station of its region and is owned by the Ferrovie dello Stato, the national rail company of Italy. The station was opened on 17 November 1861, when the railway line from Bologna was completed. Differently from some other Italian central stations, it was not possible to build it in the middle of the city, so it is located on a promontory. The original structure, built in similar style to the one of Bologna Centrale, was heavily damaged during the Second World War and rebuilt few years later.
