After some good performances in last I-League 09/10 season, he has been called to Indian squad for SAFF cup 2009 in Bangladesh. Ravinder Singh started his football career in Punjab with Chandigarh Football Academy. In 2006, he joined Air India FC. After brilliant performances Indian football giants Kingfisher East Bengal decided to sign him. He is known as the Indian Ashley Cole due to the resemblance in their playing style and coincidently Ashley Cole is Ravinder Singh's idol. He is a Sikh by religion.
