West Halton is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England, situated 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north-west of Winterton, approximately 7 miles (11 km) north of Scunthorpe, and 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the Humber Estuary.The parish also contains part of Coleby, a small hamlet south of the village. In the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 331.The church, which was built in the 17th century as a replacement for an earlier building, is dedicated to St Etheldreda.The village has existed from the Anglo Saxon period, and was mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, when it was known as Haltone. The name has been translated as "farmstead in a nook or corner of land".West Halton is a small rural village with a village green in the centre. There is a pub (the ) in the village, and a village hall, which also serves as a post office since the village's post office closed.
