Blurb/Shorttext:
The cabbage aphid which appear as a mass of mealy grey clusters on leaves, stems and flowers of its Brassica host plants, feed by sucking plant sap, in the process they cause distortion and stunting of plants. Indirectly their presence, aphid exuviae and excreta (honeydew) that encourages fungal growth renders the crop unmarketable. The aphids also vector several phytopathogenic viruses. The nymphs and adults of Bagrada bugs feed on stem and foliage and introduce spit that digests plant material leading to wilting and drying. In the presence of moisture, rotting of fed on plants occur. This book evaluates a local indigenous insect management technique together with host plant resistance in an integrated pest management (IPM) strategy. The book is particularly useful to students of insect science, field extension officers and farmers of not only kale but Brassicas in general. Organizations and individuals dealing with sustainable agriculture and adoptive technology transfer will also find it invaluable
