Processing of biomass derived feedstocks, particularly triglyceride-rich biomass in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units which have already built in petroleum refineries represents a promising alternative for the future to produce fuels and chemicals. However, biomass based feedstocks are chemically different from petroleum feedstocks which requires development of suitable catalysts for efficient conversion of such biofeeds. This work aims to address the catalyst and related chemistry issues to improve the formation of desired products, i.e. gasolines and light olefins under FCC conditions.
