India continues to be the largest producer of milk in world with 122 million tonnes in 2010-11. The book is outcome of research conducted in Kolar district of Southern Karnataka, India. The central focus of this book is economics of dairy farming, which aimed to analyse the economics of milk production, income and employment generation, management practices adopted in dairy farming and role of cooperative societies in dairy development. The study covers on various economic aspects of dairying. It is intended to provide policy suggestions for further improvement of the dairy enterprise suited to the weaker sections of the society, particularly marginal, small farmers and agricultural labourers.
