Blurb/Shorttext:
This book is a testimony that a psychological approach that acknowledges the existence and work of the psyche cannot be rooted in rationality, logic, syllogisms or biochemistry. We find here an effort to bring into focus the depth psychology understanding of the human psyche. The author looks at ancient myths and mythology as a way of understanding the archetypal dimension of our existence and as a way of, according to Joseph Campbell, "opening the mind and heart to the utter wonder of all being." The author argues against the view that myths and mythology are: make-believed children’s tales, ideas not based on truths, fictitious or imaginary things, etc. He proposes here that the influence of the Mercurius Archetype takes the form of an unconscious logic, idea that Carl Jung suggested when he said that "he represents on the one hand the self and on the other the individuation process and . . . also the collective unconscious." The author studied and borrowed from the fields of philosophy, literature, hermeneutics, physics and mythology, as an effort to present the idea that a transcendental, mercurial thinking process is involved in human experience.
