Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Broomfield is a southern area of the town of Herne Bay in Kent, England. It is part of the Herne and Broomfield civil parish. Population of 7,339 (2001 Census, Office for National Statistics). To the South of Broomfield lies agricultural farmland and East Blean Wood. In 2007, a world championship standard BMX track was opened by the BBC presenter, Kaddy Lee-Preston on land that was formerly an old landfill site, to the South east of Broomfield.Broomfield has seen much housing development in the last two decades and the boundary with neighbouring Herne has become blurred. More recently, land to the North of Broomfield and the Thanet Way has also succumbed to housing development. However, in spite of all this housing, there are only a few shops. There a small number of shops in Hawe Farm Way which includes a mini-supermarket/newsagent, two takeaways, and a hairdresser. The only other shop is Broomfield Post Office in Margate Road
