Beethoven Romance is a ballet made by New York City Ballet balletmaster in chief Peter Martins to the composer's Romance in F for violin and orchestra, op. 50 (1805). The premiere took place February 2, 1989, at the New York State Theater, Lincoln Center, with costumes by Heather Watts and lighting by Mark Stanley. Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in Western art music, he remains one of the most famous and influential of all composers.
