As the title suggested, the book revolves around two axes: argumentation as a prevailing prestigious discipline for ages and political discourse analysis as a new discipline in its embryonic stages. It is an attempt to handle the political discourse as a decisive text genre (Adam, 2001; Faircglough, 1992) in correlation with argumentation. The scope of the study will be, exclusively, the American Republican legislative and executive discourses delivered between March 2003 & December 2006. The choice draws on my convictions that even though these discourses are investigated from different perspectives, mainly from an ideological angle in the mass media, the linguistic side is understated if not neglected.
