The objective of this research is to identify public policy indicators that contribute to environmental protection in Africa. To achieve this, we estimated using the Generalized Methods of Moments (GMM) to identify governance indicators that reduce deforestation in Africa and Double Least Squares (DLS) to identify public policy indicators that contribute to pollution control in Africa. The data selected for this study covers a panel of 28 African countries observed between 2002 and 2016. The result is that, in the economic dimension of public policy, control of corruption and government efficiency contribute to the fight against deforestation, but not to the fight against pollution in Africa. Regarding political governance, political stability has a positive and significant influence on the environment in Africa. It is therefore essential for African states to promote a peaceful environment; to improve political stability.
