Martín López-Zubero Purcell (born April 23, 1969) is a former college and international swimmer who was an Olympic gold medalist. López-Zubero was born in the United States, swam in international competition for Spain, and holds dual Spanish-American citizenship. López-Zubero was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969, and grew up as a member of a swimming family. His older brother, David López-Zubero won the bronze medal in the 100-meter butterfly event at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russia, and his older sister, Julie López-Zubero, also swam for Spain in international competition.
